Rebecca Menzies

Rebecca Menzies at rebeccamenziesracing.co.uk.

With no racing background or connections to fall back on, Rebecca has negotiated her way up the notoriously tricky horse racing career ladder at an impressive rate.

From stable lass, to racing secretary, to travelling head lass, to assistant trainer for Grade 1 and Cheltenham Festival winning trainer Ferdy Murphy; it has been through drive and sheer determination that she now presides over her own impressive training establishment.

From her first training yard at Brandsby, formerly the home of Cheltenham Gold Cup winning trainer Peter Beaumont, Rebecca enjoyed three fruitful years as a fledgling in the ranks and quickly established herself as a force to be reckoned with among a new generation of trainers.

When offered the chance to move to Howe Hill Stables in County Durham it was simply too good an opportunity to turn down. Formerly the home of hugely popular and successful dual purpose northern handler John Wade and boasting 100 boxes, the move to the state-of-the-art facility has enabled Rebecca and her ambitious team to push the operation on to the next level.

Henry Daly

Henry Daly at henrydaly.co.uk.

Henry has been training racehorses at Downton Hall stables since 1998. Henry is a horseman through and through; he had decided as a child that horses and racing were his future.

After leaving school he went to work on stud farms in America for 2 years, followed by a stint in Newmarket in the bloodstock and sales side of the industry. Henry did his training apprenticeship with Nick Gaselee and Paul Cole before working as an Assistant to Kim Bailey and then Tim Forster.

During this time he rode as an amateur mostly in Point-to-Points but with one notable winner at Cheltenham!

In 1994 Henry help Tim Foster move his entire training operation to Downton Hall Stables helping to design and build the yard and the facilities. Since taking over in 1998 Henry has trained over 600 winners, which include 3 winners at the Cheltenham Festival, twice winning the Liverpool Hurdle, a Welsh National and winners of Grade 1 races at Ascot, Cheltenham, Liverpool, Aintree, Wetherby and Kempton.
